Butt kicked
I gave Paul Heinerth the opportunity to torture me again in the second half of my cave class. The first half was cavern and intro to cave. This time it was apprentice and full cave. While the first class was a number of new skills and techniques, this was more planning, procedures and practice. In the practice portion Paul also pushed us to make sure we would not panic in some not so comfortable situations. At the time, it was not always "fun". However, in retrospect, he did a great job. If you're not prepared for the worst, then you should not be in a cave.
After the class we got in one last dive just for fun. We went to Orange Grove, and dragged the camera along. Paul took a few shots during the dive, then handed it to me at the safety stop.
I took this half of the class on my KISS Rebreather with side mount bailout tanks. It was an new configuration for me and took a few dives to work out the kinks.
If you're thinking about taking a cave class, then I highly recommend Paul. He'll make you work for the cert, but you will know that you can handle the adverse conditions that come your way.
